The Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, also known as the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL), deals with a wide range of issues related to decolonization, as well as other political and security-related matters. SPECPOL is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the UN’s decolonization agenda, which includes the supervision of the administration of trust and non-self-governing territories. It also deals with issues related to peacekeeping and the maintenance of international peace and security, including the work of the UN Peacebuilding Commission.
