The First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, also known as the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), deals with issues related to disarmament and international security. DISEC is responsible for the negotiation and implementation of international agreements and treaties on disarmament and arms control, as well as the promotion of peace and security. It also addresses issues such as the prevention of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the reduction of armed forces and military budgets, and the regulation of arms trade.
